Tanzanian music heavyweights Diamond Platnumz and Rayvanny were on Tuesday barred from performing anywhere within or outside the country for an unspecified period of time.

This comes after the country’s music governing body, BASATA, on December 11, 2018 banned the duo’s latest song titled ‘Mwanza’ from being played on radio, T.V or during concerts.

In a statement posted on their social media platforms, BASATA has now barred the two stars from holding any more concerts citing indiscipline and failure to show respect to the body’s rules and regulations.

The ban comes barely a day after the two artists performed in Mwanza for the inaugural Wasafi Festival tour where a section of the media has reported that they performed the outlawed song.

Diamond Platnumz was also set for a Christmas Eve performance at the Moi Stadium in Embu on Monday.

He was then expected to join the rest of his Wasafi Records artists for the Kenyan edition of the Wasafi Festival on December 26 at Mombasa Sports Club, Mombasa, and Uhuru Gardens in Nairobi on December 31.

It remains to be seen whether the ban will be enforced.
