Popular Ghanaian dancehall artiste, Ebony Reigns, has died in a gruesome road accident that occurred late Thursday evening on the Sunyani-Kumasi road.

The 20-year-old singer and two military officers were on board a Jeep with registration AS 497—16 from Sunyani heading towards Kumasi when it collided head-on with a VIP bus heading towards Sunyani from Kumasi.

VIP is the leading Transportation service in Ghana noted for their luxurious buses on the Accra – Kumasi route. They also operate to almost all major cities in Ghana.

The Ghana Police Service

According to a report from the Ghana Police Service, Ebony, and the two others in the jeep, lost their lives on Thursday night, after their car collided with an oncoming VIP bus, when their driver tried to avoid a heap of sand in their lane.

The police said the sand was meant for the maintenance of the road.

Whereas the occupants of the bus escaped unhurt, the police in its report said only the driver of the Jeep whose names was given as Chartey Oko Pinehad, aged 29, survived the accident, and is receiving treatment at the Bechem hospital.

The police also in its report said the remains of Ebony and the two others have been deposited at the Bechem government hospital mortuary for preservation and autopsy.

The police said the driver of the VIP Bus driver has also been given an “enquiry bail.”

Eyewitness Account

An eyewitness only identified as Ken Yeboah has given a chilly account of how Ghanaian dancehall artiste, Ebony Reigns died.

“No one in the bus was dead or injured but occupants of the Jeep vehicle were hurt. The passengers told us the accident involved another car and that a soldier and a small girl were trapped in the vehicle. We called fire service from Bechem and when they came they were incapacitated so they relied on their colleagues in Sunyani who managed to open the mangled vehicle before they could retrieve the bodies. I saw her she was the Ebony we know”

Lesbianism

GhanaCelebrities.Com reported that their outfit has been told by a source who claims to be in the known that, the lady who traveled and died Ebony, was her lesbian partner.

According to the source, the girl called Franky Kuri is a known lesbian in town–and her for some months now, she has been in a low key relationship with Ebony.

In June 2017, Ebony debunked claims that she was a lesbian. “I like boys,” she said on a local radio in Accra.

Prophets taking credit

Several Prophets have come out to associate themselves to the demise of the dancehall queen. Rev Owusu Bempah said a great musician will die this year and Prophet Badu Kobi said that Ebony had a short life.

Another Prophet Nigel Gaisie vividly stated that Ebony will die through a road accident if she does not change her ways.

“The Lord opened my eye. That singer called Ebony, she has a short life. I saw her having a fatal lorry accident. That singer called Ebony, we are the prophets of the nation. Hear me and hear me. If she does not change her ways, it will come to pass. She will die like the way Suzzy Williams died when you expose yourself, you give out for evil spirits who don’t have the license to come and infiltrate you,” he reportedly said on 24th November 2017 but we cannot confirm.

A video of another pastor giving a similar prophecy is also going viral on social media.

In the video, the pastor whose sermon seems to be centred on singers shares how he had a vision of the talented musician’s death with members of his congregation.

Although the date he made that prediction is not known, weher he made it before or after her death, the pastor said Ebony was going to die in a car accident latest by July 2018 just like the late musician Terry Bonchaka.
