The controversy surrounding the greatest of all time musician in Liberia, had been an interesting topic and argument in different conversations.

Every single Liberian in the course of argument tries to hype and raise their favourite music artiste over the others out of the love reserved for such personalities.

Becoming the greatest of all time musician in a country requires hard work and how dynamic and versatile such music artiste is in order to have the bragging right.

I have been asked this question on several occasions: “James, tell us who is the Greatest Musician of All Time in Liberia”.  I keep telling them that, he may be dead, but Quincy B, still rank as Liberia’s greatest musician.

Many of those who ask me this question assume that I listen to all music released in Liberia. The truth is I don’t.

There is an overwhelming number of releases that come up every month and if I spent twenty-four hours a day listening all the releases, I would have no time to sleep.

In order to answer the above question, I decided to go through the streets of Monrovia, and do a little survey to find out which artistes is considered Greatest Musician of All Time in Liberia. Fortunately for me, I have an idea about the artiste, but other names were mentioned. The names that came up included Takun J, Christoph, CIC, Kpanto, Bucky Raw, MC Caro.

A guy, Frank Kolleh, who was passionate about this question decided to spell it out differently and thought that I should have asked him who Liberia’s top five musicians are. That is the way he said I should have rephrased this question.

According to him:

”It’s difficult to come up with the top five of all time but I have seen that we can all concur on the greatest of all time”.

Though his career was short-lived, Quincy B, music had a huge impact and is still played everywhere years after his death. This guy’s talent was out of this world.

Quincy B, met his untimely demise in a car accident on March 3, 2017 while returning from a night club in Monrovia.

With hit songs like ‘Put Liberia First’, ‘We Don’t Talk Anymore’, ‘My Dream’ featuring Scientific, ‘Tumba Tumba’ and his last released single titled ‘I Pledge’, Quincy B make his breakthrough in the music industry since his emergence in 2013 and so much consistency kept his enviable career afloat.

This guy is the very best of all time. He is one of the greatest composers of all time. He composed songs for several of the current top Liberian musicians.

While I know some people might disagree with me and will say; ”How is it that Quincy B, even among top 5 or the greatest of time?’’ But the truth is that Quincy B, was a giant. Quincy B, was a complete musician. Had he not died, he would had been fighting for a spot among Africa’s top 5.

It is so sad that Liberia lost such a great artiste. “Liberia Youth Award”; renamed, (Liberty Young Archivers) which had seen the greatness in Quincy B decided to give him an “Honorary Posthumous” award in recognition of his great works.

He touched everyone’s heart and soul. His death robbed Liberia of a most renowned and internationally recognized cultural icon of all time.

Although we all have our own opinions on who is the greatest in our eyes, there are a handful of netizen who we can all agree that Quincy L. Burrowes, is Liberia Greatest of All Time.
