James Joyce was born James Augustine Aloysius Joyce on the 2nd day of February 1882, at   41 Brighton Square, Rathgar, Dublin, Ireland, to John Stanislaus Joyce and Mary Jane “May”.

James Joyce was an Irish novelist, short story writer, poet, and literary critic who contributed largely to the modernist avant-garde movement and is regarded as one of the most influential and important writers of the 20th century.

James Joyce died on 11 January 1941 after undergoing surgery in Zürich for a perforated duodenal ulcer.
