Olivia Rodrigo surprised fans at her “Guts” tour concert in Inglewood, California, on Tuesday night by inviting rising pop star Chappell Roan to the stage for a high-energy performance of Roan’s viral hit, “Hot to Go!”
Before the duet began, Rodrigo addressed the packed crowd at the Intuit Dome with heartfelt praise for her guest. “I think she is one of the most singular, inspiring, powerful artists I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting,” she said. “And I’m so excited because she’s going to sing one of my favorite songs of all time.”
Roan made her entrance with a warm hug for Rodrigo and added, “We’re gonna sing a song, and we’re gonna teach you a dance.” The two then launched into a lively rendition of “Hot to Go!,” complete with synchronized choreography and playful hopping that had the audience cheering.
The performance marked a full-circle moment for both artists. Roan had originally served as an opening act on the early leg of Rodrigo’s Guts World Tour, which kicked off in February 2024. Her run concluded in April, just before she took the stage at major music festivals like Coachella, Bonnaroo, Governors Ball, and Outside Lands, cementing her status as a breakout performer.
Tuesday’s show was one of the final stops on Rodrigo’s U.S. tour before she heads overseas to continue her global trek. International fans can look forward to upcoming shows in Thailand, South Korea, China, Japan, Singapore, and Australia through the rest of the year.
The collaboration between Rodrigo and Roan is rooted in their mutual connection to producer Dan Nigro. Nigro has been Rodrigo’s trusted creative partner for years, co-writing and producing many of her biggest hits, including tracks from the “Guts” album such as “Vampire,” “Bad Idea Right?” and “Pretty Isn’t Pretty.” Nigro also began working with Roan in 2020, and their latest release, “Good Luck, Babe,” has received widespread acclaim and attention online.
The L.A. duet between Roan and Rodrigo not only gave fans a memorable moment but also showcased the strength of today’s new pop talent — a testament to the collaborative energy driving this generation of artists.
