Liberian musicians should forget about claiming any of the honours in the African Magazine Music Awards (AFRIMMA) this year having missed out on the nominees’ list.
Nominations were released days ago and as usual, Nigerian musicians are appearing on most slots. Burna Boy is among the most nominated musicians in this year’s edition from the West African nation.
The awards aim at celebrating African music in the diaspora. This year’s edition will be the 6th and is slated for October in Dallas, United States of America.
In the 2019 Afrimmas, which has 26 categories comprising ten artists each, Liberia is the only country seemingly missing from the list in this part of Africa where neighbouring nations Ivory Coast, Sierra Leone, have been nominated.
Other West African countries on the list are Nigeria, Ghana, Mali and Senegal, with notable nominees including Davido, Wizkid, Kwame Eugene, Sidiki Diabate, Wally B. Seck, Stonebwoy, Mr. Eazi, Tiwa Savage, Teni and Yemi Alade.
Afrimma is a highly anticipated award show celebrating the beauty of African music and artistry with many of the biggest names on the African music roster already confirmed for this year’s edition which promises to be a grand occasion.
The award show will honour some of the world’s top African musical artists, producers and cultural influencers. The star studded event will attract guests from all over Africa and other cities throughout the United States as well as guests and honourees from various African countries.
