Rape and Violence are one of the security issues affecting people especially females in Liberia.
Every time women share their sexual abuse story, people like to counter-argue ” I hope we will stand with the men that have been falsely accused” First of all, stop right there, it's problematic. Speaking out about abuse takes so much courage, stop finding excuses to defend rape.

It is becoming a common occurrence—an everyday thing. Barely a day passes in Liberia without the report of a case of violence against women, whether in a rural or an urban setting.

Women in Liberia experience a variety of forms of violence including sexual abuse and exploitation, rape, defilement (rape of a child).

And yet — despite these alarming statistics — victims still struggle to be taken seriously. They are blamed for what happened to them. They are accused of lying. Convicted assailants still get minimal jail time or no jail time at all.

These overwhelming injustices have prompted many public figures as well as many supporters to voice out against the constant raping and killing of female children via their various social media handles.
Promiscuity and rape have always been apart of Liberia. Perpetuated by our parents , teachers, and encouraged by our peers. As Liberian men we need to do better. I applaud the strong women speaking out.

We can hold everyone accountable at the same time, but the rapists are the real enemies here.. they’re the ones forcing all this trauma on all of us!!!

Y’all just know that ley day anyone pass close to me or try that rape BS with me, they gonna die. I won’t even give Liberians the time to even start justifying why one asshole decided to forcibly have sex with me. You try me, it’s gonna be your family explaining your death news.

We normalized rape every time we ignore a survivor story; we shame & blame them for their abuse by using their supposedly indecent dress code and action to justify rape. We fail to speak out against rape because we are friends with the rapist. Hold them accountable, shame them!
