The death of Legendary Boston broadcaster and former longtime co-anchor of on WCVB Channel 5’s Chronicle, was announced on New Year’s Eve last night.

The 76-year old broadcaster passed away after battling Alzheimer’s Disease for 7 years.

Her husband Stan Leven, who is a former senior producer for Chronicle, said this about Richardson concerning her illness:

Richardson, besides Stan, is also survived by her three children Chris, Jessie, and Matt, and two grandchildren as well.

Richardson joined WCVB in 1980 as a news reporter and anchor, as well as a host of the weekly public affairs program “Five on Five.” She co-anchored Peter Mehegan on Chronicle, in 1984, which is now the nation’s acclaimed longest-running locally-produced newsmagazine in the country. Richardson also co-anchored Chronicle with Anthony Everett from 2005 until 2010.

Millions of fans and sympathizers took to social media to offer their condolences.
