Remembering Quincy B, two years after his sudden death

It’s hard to believe that it’s been two years today since Afropop star Quincy B passed away. And it’s not any easier for the music industry today, than it was on the morning he died.

Quincy B, real name Quincy L. Burrowes, rose to fame when he released his first single titled “My Dream” featuring rapper Scientific.

He started as a singer and later channeled to producing. He was first spotted by Heart Beat Record CEO Infectious Michael. However, he later joined Lewiz McCarthy at ALM Record, where he recorded several of his popular songs.

He came into limelight in 2014 after releasing his first single with Ghana based Liberian rapper Scientific. This gave him popularity and gained him a fan base in Liberia.

He then released more good songs which topped Liberian music chats for quite a while like, “Put Liberia First” “Crazy” “Mr. All The Time” “Olukupay” “Check and Balance” “Tumba Baba” “My Pledge” featuring Sweetz, and many others.

In 2016, he joined the telecommunications giant Lonestar Cell MTN, serving as their brand ambassador prior to his death in 2017.

His Death

Quincy B, had recorded his latest song “My Pledge” featuring Sweetz. On March 3rd, his last day, he went out with few of his fellow musicians including CIC, Margas and Feouls where they all decided to hang out at the famous Angler’s Bar, little did he know that it would be his last.

At around 2:30am, Quincy B was driving along with his friends, when his vehicle crashed and his lifeless body was found right in front of the United Nations Headquarters in Monrovia, opposite the Monrovia City Hall. He was later rushed to the nearest hospital for first aid, but it was too late for the doctors to save his life. He was pronounced dead few minutes later, after arriving in the hospital, leaving the other artistes with serious injuries.

Most notably CIC, who leg was broken and sent to Ghana for proper treatment.

His parents and other sympathizers were immediately called. They told the media about the sudden death of their son and at around 5am, news had started circulating all over social media. The nurses at the John F. Kennedy Hospital prepared Quincy’s body and moved it to the mortuary.

The music industry still misses and mourns the death of Afropop star Quincy L. Burrowes, popularly known as Quincy B.
