The MTN Liberia Music Awards is set for November 16, and artistes in the genre will be eagerly waiting to see if they can land the various accolades in nominated categories.
The awards ceremony will be held in Monrovia and artistes who’s in the hipco/trapco scene will be expected to grace the event.
The night will belong to rappers such as Bucky Raw with six nominations, Nuchie Meek, Christoph, Pascal and Barsee Mocopala Kiloda. They have been nominated in the Hipco/TrapCo artiste of the year, Hipco/Trapco song of the year, Collaboration of the year, Video of the year, Artist of the year, and Male artist of the year.
One of them might leave empty-handed such as what happened to Nuchie Meek who received nominations and left with no accolade. Bucky Raw has been breaking boundaries this year as his music has been great on the ear and his music videos were of international standard.

Barsee Mocopala Kiloda at the beginning of the year, declared that 2019 would be a great year, and so far it has been. He released several tracks that have been well received by music lovers. Winning in these aforementioned categories will cap a great year for Barsee.
Pascal, who won the previous hipco award, have had a disappointing year, but managed to release yet another banger ‘Ebenezer’ featuring awards winner, Jaredo. Christoph, on the other hand have had a terrible year, after his music hiatus, to his apartment eviction, and other personal issues that he couldn’t controlled.
For Nuchie Meek who is a member of the trailblazing record label Swag District, it has been a comeback year and he has put in the work to get him noticed for awards.
This year the awards are running under the theme, “United By Music”, which is something that is very important for the trapco genre that has for long failed to have a meaningful foothold in the country.
Like one of the biggest genres Afro-Pop, the artistes, producers and promoters created a market for the genre and then fed it with music. It’s a clarion call by these stakeholders in the industry to follow suit or even have the same approach in getting the music to everyone
