Popular Nigerian musician, Burna Boy, has emerged as the winner of Best Global Music Album of the year at the 2021 Grammy Awards.

Burna Boy’s Twice As Tall bypassed Antibalas (FU Chronicles), Bebel Gilberto (Agora), Anoushka Shankar (Love Letters), and Tinariwen (Amadjar) to emerge the winner. The win marks Burna Boy’s first Grammy Award after being nominated last year.


Reacting to Burna Boy’s win, his girlfriend, Stefflon Don called him via a video call to congratulate him. Burna Boy in response to her stated that he loves her so much as she is his first Grammy Award.

Burna Boy’s album is now the first Nigerian album to win a Grammy and the first Afrobeat album to win the award. This is the second time Burna Boy got a nomination in this category after losing to iconic Angelique Kidjo during last year’s ceremony.
